All About The Artists
Jessica and Niki Wise are the artists behind Blue Lotus Soaps, LLC. By day, Jessica is the Executive Chef with Parkhurst at Covestro. Throughout her over two decades in the culinary field, she has worked in various areas of the industry from fine dinning to family cuisine. Jessica has a degree in trumpet performance, a passion for music, and a deep love of being outdoors in nature. Niki is an early childhood educator inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach. With degrees in Psychology and Sociology, she carries the idea of celebrating the many languages of love and learning through various forms of creative expression.

Together they live in Brookline (Pittsburgh), PA with their daughter Emma. Since her birth, these holistic mamas have been creating products to benefit the various allergies and needs of their child with consideration for sustainability, local/community connections, and homegrown ingredients (a value that carries through to their work in the culinary and education fields as well). From this grew a love of creating products with these same values in mind. Thus leading to the creation of Blue Lotus Soaps, LLC.
Frequently Asked Questions
& Ingredient Information
Why choose
handmade soap?
It's simple. The ingredients. Handcrafted soaps are made with nourishing oils that moisturize and protect your skin. Commercially produced soaps are typically made with low-cost oils, detergents, and other synthetic ingredients. How we treat our skin can have a major impact on our overall health.
How long will
my soap last?
The answer to that depends entirely on you. Handmade soap will last anywhere from a several weeks to several months. Each bar will last longer if allowed to dry out between uses and use a soap dish that allows air to circulate around the bar.
What does curing mean?
Curing is when a bar of soap is set aside for a few weeks (even up to a year) to allow water to evaporate and continue the saponification process. The Lye is fully removed after 72 hours but at Blue Lotus Soaps, we prefer to cure our soaps for at least 5-6 weeks. This ensures that our final product is a hard, smooth, moisturizing bar that lasts long, lathers well, and smells great.
